About Edacity

The evidence on teacher wellbeing, workload, and school culture is substantial. Most of it sits in academic journals and policy documents — useful to researchers, largely inaccessible to the people it’s meant to help.

Edacity was built to close that gap. We publish books and practical resources that translate what the research actually says into tools teachers and school leaders can use straight away. Our training brings the same work into schools directly, for teams that want to go deeper than a book or toolkit can take them.

The work is led by Barry Taylor: a University of Cambridge-trained educator, AST/Lead Practitioner, Initial Teacher Trainer/Mentor, and Outreach Consultant, with extensive experience preparing new teachers and supporting/coaching school leaders. He is also a certified Gelotologist – one of a small number of specialists in the UK trained in the science of laughter/play and its measurable effects on wellbeing, cognition, and performance. His books are published under the Edacity Press imprint.

Edacity was founded on the deep understanding that the education system, for both learners and those who teach them, can be a source of profound pressure and isolation. It impacts engagement, energy, and effort, which can result in increased ill-health, absenteeism, presenteeism, ‘quiet quitting’, and reduced performance and attainment.

Having encountered and managed these issues – from both ends of the spectrum – our commitment is personal. We deliver research-backed interventions, refined by decades of classroom and leadership experience, to equip school communities with genuine, sustainable wellbeing tools.

The focus throughout is practical. Evidence-based. Designed for the realities of a working school – not for a world where everything is already going well. We exist to put the spark back into the staffroom and the classroom, making teaching (and learning) the joyful, connecting experience it should be.

Our Core Values

Authentic Expertise

Our work is rooted in peer-reviewed research and tried-and-tested strategies refined through lived classroom experience.

Digestible Learning

Support shouldn't require a PhD to apply. We take what the evidence and guidance says and turn it into tools teachers can use

The Power of Joy

Humour and play are not soft skills, they're science-backed pedagogy that belong in the staffroom as much as the classroom.

Sustainable Change

Our aim is lasting cultural change - giving leaders and teachers frameworks that hold up under pressure, not just on a good day.

Edacity Press

Books for teachers and leaders.

Our Services

Pupil Wellbeing Workshops

Pupil anxiety, disengagement, and low self-esteem are classroom realities — and they have practical solutions. Our age-appropriate workshops teach mindfulness, emotional regulation, and the science of happiness in ways young people actually engage with. Grounded in research. Built for real classrooms.

INSET Professional Development

Workload stress, burnout, and disconnection from the craft of teaching are retention problems as much as wellbeing ones. We tackle them directly — from managing anxiety and building psychological safety, to using laughter and play to improve teacher and pupil engagement. Practical, evidence-based, immediately applicable.

Leadership Support and Coaching

If your wellbeing strategy isn't producing measurable change in staff retention or culture, something structural needs addressing. We work with senior leaders and MATs to audit wellbeing culture, identify the pressure points that most strategies miss, and build frameworks designed to last.
